Sapphire is a powerful Windows software tool
for generating Grotrian diagrams that enable users
to visualise, interpret and communicate atomic
spectroscopy.
Atomic electronic spectroscopy is of central importance
to many scientific disciplines. These include
the physical sciences, astronomy, major techniques
is analytical science and laser spectroscopic diagnostics,
and in our understanding of important technologies
such as lasers, plasmas, light sources and display
materials. Sapphire will appeal to research
scientists, educators, users and producers of scientific
instrumentation, and authors and publishers in these
areas.
A wizard facility in Sapphire is used to generate
Grotrian diagrams showing atomic energy levels and
transitions using the extensive database that contains
high precision, high accuracy data for the energy
levels of all the stable elements in the periodic
table and also for many of their ions.
Fully interactive views showing level and transition
properties can be displayed alongside the Grotrian
diagrams. The data can also be displayed as
a spectrograph or as a simulated emission spectrum.
